New Website Challenge (Week 6) – Still Taking Some Time
Hey it’s Omar coming at your with another update. If you haven’t been following our brief updates for the new sites we’ve launched then you can get caught up on the prior weeks here.
Time sure does fly, I’m amazed that is has been 6 weeks already. One thing that we haven’t done too much for any of these sites is serious promotion of them. When I say promotion for SEO that really means building backlinks to the websites.
This can be done many ways such as…
Directory Submissions (We’ve done this)
Social Bookmarking (We’ve done this)
Web 2.0 Links
Blog Commenting
Forum Threads
Profile Links
And a bunch more stuff.
You really don’t need to do all of these things though, as many are now stronger than others. We always like to start of a site with Directory listings, social bookmarks and submit it to sites like Digg so it can get indexed much faster by the Search Engines.
What we don’t do
We never blast our new site with tons of links right away because it’s just not plain old natural and will probably raise a RED FLAG to the search engines. We like to keep it calm and hold on the promotion for a few. As you can see it’s been 6 weeks without heavy promotion. I am also guessing our rankings will be OK but nothing special since we haven’t promoted them much.
Ranking Update
Site #1 - NOT GOING FOR A KEYWORD FOR MAIN Domain
Site #2 – 18,000 EXACT MATCH Local Searches – Ranks # 0 (this is a competitive market!)
Site #3 – 3,600 EXACT MATCH Local Searches – Ranks # 36 (also a lot of inter-pages rankings! This is surprising as we haven’t done much to this website in terms of promotion)
So as you can see Site #2 is a lot more competitive and this shows with the rankings. A lot of the internal pages are also NO WHERE to be found which sucks! But that’s fine. Once we begin promoting these sites a bit more things should pick up for them.

Take care

I need to take the time to really study this. I’ve had a hard time keeping my Internet connection, today, and there is so much I don’t know or understand.
